A directory that supports pastoral care
A useful church directory answers more than “What is their email address?” Staff need to understand family relationships, ministry involvement and how someone connects with the church. ChurchFoundry keeps those records together so leaders can work from the same information instead of separate spreadsheets.
Directory records can exist without a login. Your staff can record a visitor or household before they join the app, and an approved member can connect their account to an existing record. That distinction helps preserve church history when someone changes how they sign in.
Keep records useful as your church grows
Custom fields let staff record information appropriate to their ministry. Tags and groups support practical organization, while member journeys record progress through church-defined stages. Journeys are separate from membership status and guest follow-up, so a discipleship step does not accidentally change someone’s membership.
Duplicate review and person merging help staff clean up repeated records. Conflicting identity or access information requires review rather than silently discarding history. Permission controls determine who can view, edit or merge records.
Bring your people directory with you
ChurchFoundry accepts a Planning Center people CSV export. Existing records are matched using the Planning Center Person ID when available, allowing a later import to update people rather than add another copy.
Start with a small sample, check family relationships and contact details, then review the result with the staff who maintain the directory. Importing people does not mean every historical record from another platform has been migrated.
